In collaboration with the Altarum Institute, the National Center for a System of Services for Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs (CYSHCN) is developing and publishing state factsheets based on the National Survey of Children’s Health (NSCH) data.
These factsheets provide an overview of state-level NSCH data which may inform progress to advance the system of services for CYSHCN. The NSCH indicators included in these factsheets have been carefully selected by a group of stakeholders to align with the four areas of a national framework for CYSHCN.
The factsheets not only provide at-a-glance data, but they also include a breakdown by demographic characteristics that can help states design programs and track progress to advance the system of services CYSHCN. Below you will find three sets of factsheets: 10 published in 2023–2024 based on 2020–2021 NSCH data, an updated set published in 2024–2025 based on 2021–2022 NSCH data, and a set published in 2025-2026 based on 2022-2023 NSCH data.
